Mr. Narvel Grit Wright, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 21,2024. He was born in rural Holmes County Mississippi. He was the son of John Henry Wright. The eldest of nine of Magnolia Fisher Taylor. As a young boy they lived in Miami, FL before moving to Waterloo, IA where he graduated from East High School. After high school Narvel served in the US Marine Corps before returning to civilian life to own a trucking company. One of his proudest moments was attending Mississippi Valley State University where he obtained his master's degree.

If you knew Grit, you knew he loved to dress, loved his cowboy boots and hats, His name will live on with his nephew he called his namesake Destin “Narvel”. Through it all, his faith remained strong and never wavered.

“Gone but Never Forgotten” - his father; his favorite girl; his mother; a son Johnell Marcus Wright; a sister Doretha Conner; two nieces Tamara Mohorne; Destiny Conner; and three nephews Corey Wright; Eric Alexander and Miles Curry.

Narvel also leaves behind to cherish his memories; two brothers Larry Wright, Albuquerque, NM and Robert Conner (Maria) Lawton, OK; five sisters Mae Cyrus; Laura Allen (Michael) and Earnestine Curry (Kevin) all from Mesa, AZ; Mary Gordon, Austell GA and Lavanda Conner, Westminster, CO and a special daughter Devondra Hodges, Waterloo, IA.
