Mrs. Myrtle McBride Hardison, daughter of the late Dock Henry McBride and the late Jennie Melton McBride, blessed the world with her birth on September 15, 1932, in Morven, North Carolina. On August 31, 2024 while at Atrium Health Union in Monroe, North Carolina, our beloved Myrtle peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm to embrace eternal rest after 91 years of love and grace.
Myrtle professed her faith in Christ at a young age at Gatewood Station A.M.E. Zion Church in Morven, where she remained a devoted and faithful servant throughout her life. She served her church community as Pastor’s Aide, Deaconess, and lastly, as Mother of the Church.
A lifelong resident of Anson County, Myrtle graduated from McRae High School (formerly Morven Colored High School) in 1949. On June 8, 1958, she married Lee Thomas "Boot" Hardison, Sr. From this union, eight children were born. She later retired from West Knitting Mills after 28 years of dedicated service, where she worked at the cutting table, tying bundles of shirts alongside her close friends and coworkers, Wiley Rorie and Troy Williams. Myrtle was known for her wit and loved telling jokes. She also enjoyed watching wrestling, court shows, and game shows.
Myrtle was preceded in death by: one child Austin Hardison; and siblings Lillie McBride Little, Hattie McBride, John Robert McBride, Haywood McBride, Archie McBride, Jahue McBride and Lafayette McBride.
