Obituary For Sarita Lawrence-Coopwood

Sarita Lawrence-Coopwood Lancaster, TX formerly of Madison, AL, and Nashville, TN, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, February 20, 2017. Sarita was born Sept 30, 1930 in Flint, MI, to Richard and Lucille Lawrence. She was a graduate of Niles (MI) High School, Oakwood College (Huntsville, AL), and Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, TN). She taught elementary school in Murfreesboro and Nashville for several years. She also was office manager for her husband's medical practice until her retirement. She met each day with resolve, perseverance, peace and courage as she battled 'bone marrow failure disease' otherwise known as Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) for eleven years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William E. Coopwood, M.D.; her parents, and seven siblings. Her memory will be cherished dearly by her five children - Janice (Durandel) Ford of Fort Worth, TX, Ronald (Leonora) Coopwood of Lithia Springs, GA, Dawn (Tyrone) Boyd of DeSoto, TX, Diane (Marvin) Earle of Lancaster, TX, and Reginald (Erica) Coopwood of Memphis, TN; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four siblings and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday, March 3, 2017, at eleven o'clock in the morning at Hillcrest SDA Church, 2010 25th Avenue N, Nashville. Burial will be in Greenwood North Cemetery.
