DAVID BERNARD MARRINER, JR, affectionately known as “DJ” son of David and Karen Banks Marriner, was born February 25, 1993, in Brunswick, GA and entered into eternal rest at the age of 31 on August 30, 2024, at his residence, Raleigh, NC. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend to many. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother- Odessa Fuller; grandfathers- Albert Johnson, Andrew Fuller, and David Marriner; cousins-Tiahza Green, Michael Banks and recently, Rodney Banks.

In 2001 he moved to South Hill, VA and at an early age he was baptized and joined Lombardy Grove Baptist Church, South Hill, VA. He served as a member of the Junior Choir and the Usher Board. He later joined the South Hill Church of God (Impact) serving on the drama team, the worship team and the youth ministry.

David played little league baseball in his younger years. He was a 2011 graduate of the former Park View Senior High School, where he played soccer and football. After graduating, he attended Mission Baltimore School of Ministry, Baltimore, MD.

David was currently an active member of Focus Church, Raleigh, NC and served faithfully as a member of the production team.

David started his very first job at the age of 15 at the South Hill Church of God in the after-school program and being a Group Leader for the summer camp program, making many fond memories working with the children and getting to know their parents.

David later became employed by Fresenius Medical Care as a certified Patient Care Technician at Liberty Dialysis, South Hill, VA. He then became a Biomedical Technician for that company, working in clinics in South Hill and Petersburg, VA and most recently in the Raleigh, NC area.

David was passionate about family and sports as he cheered on the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Manchester United Soccer Team. He loved music, reading, watching documentaries, chess, and debating with others. Once he warmed up to you, he showed you his silly side and was always willing to help others.

David leaves to cherish his memories: his parents- David and Karen Banks Marriner, Brodnax, VA; brother- Joshua Marriner, Durham, NC; grandmother- Alice Marriner, South Hill, VA; 4 aunts- Teresa Banks and Mattie Payne of Madison, VA; Janet Frye, Ruckersville, VA and Camelia (Tony) Spence, Plymouth, NC; 2 uncles- Timothy (Doreen) Banks, Charlottsville, VA and Clinton (Carolyn) Banks, Madison, VA; 4 great aunts- Annabell Hill, Barboursville, VA; Katherine Whitley, Norfolk, VA, Violet Lambert, Madison, VA and Agnes Dixon, Plymouth, NC; a beloved puppy named Chloe, Co-workers, classmates, and other relatives and friends.
