After a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and career, Bettie J. Pugh of Canton, OH, peacefully passed away on September 13, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1948, in Seale, AL, to the union of Charlie and Mae G. (Toney) Pugh. Bettie was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Bettie was a proud alumna of Canton McKinley High School and continued her studies at the National Beauty College successfully obtaining her state cosmetology license. She furthered her academic pursuits at Stark State College in studying the field of Education. Faith in God was vital to Bettie. She was an integral part of the New Dimensions Educational Ministries community.
Throughout her life, Bettie had varied employment careers within the manufacturing industry which included the Morse, DHL, Ecko companies. She retired from the Hoover Company after exemplary service as an inspector and quality control engineer. Her dedication and attention to detail left a lasting impact on all those she worked with, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Bettie is survived by her loving son Troy (Victoria) Pugh, devoted brother Toni (Alva) Pugh, caring sister Kinza Pugh, and cherished grandchildren Robert Blair, Ashton Reynolds, and Sofia Anderson, all who held a special place in her heart. Bettie also leaves an expansive score of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will fondly recall the precious times shared.
As Bettie crossed the celestial sands, she was met by her beloved parents and her brother James Pugh who preceded her into eternity.
Though she may be gone, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. The memory of Bettie's infectious laughter, kind heart and fun-loving nature will forever be treasured by all who knew her.
In honor of her remarkable life, the community is invited to a 10:00 am public viewing on Monday, September 23, 2024, in the chapel of the at J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 1617 Third Street NE, Canton.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am with her beloved brother, Pastor Toni Pugh presiding. As we gather to celebrate Bettie's life, let us reflect on the joy she brought to those around her and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
