Edith Olivia Jay Moore, age 90, of Durham, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born April 29, 1934 to the late Thomas and Ruth Jay. She was the 12th child of 15 siblings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Era Wallace, Emma Jay, Ida Cates, Ivory Jay, Otis Jay, James Jay, Marion Henderson, Velma Goodwyn, Mack Jay, Sue Thomas and Wallace Jay.

She graduated from Person County High School in 1952. She was married to the late George T. Moore Sr of Durham NC. To this union two children were born.

She was employed at Duke University Medical Center of Durham NC in various positions retiring as a Phlebotomist Supervisor after 36 years.

She is survived by her son, George T. Moore Jr.(Lisa) of Raleigh NC, her daughter, Sandra G. Moore of Durham NC. She is also survived by her grandsons Myles Moore of Raleigh, NC and Jaylin Moore of Durham, NC. Her surviving siblings, Bessie Lee of Roxboro, NC, Beulah Thomas of East Orange, New Jersey, and Dorothy Lunsford (Meryl) of Roxboro, NC and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Bahama, NC. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service.
