Mr. Gerald Lee Miller

Mr. Gerald Lee Miller was born on March 6, 1946 to the late U T Newman and Leola Miller Robinson in Jefferson, SC and raised by Sidney and Hennie Miller. Mr. Miller departed this life on September 26, 2024 at his home after a brief illness. He was a graduate of Petersburg High School in 1965 and a graduate of the Institute of Government in 1994. After accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, he joined the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Jefferson, SC, where he served faithfully as Trustee, Usher, Chair of the Board, Building Committee, and more. As a licensed electrician and plumber, he retired after 33 years with the Lynches River Electric Coop in Pageland, SC, and later founded the Miller Electrical and Plumbing Services, which he operated until his death, which will continue to operate.

Mr. Miller was about community and service to all people. He was a worker, server, and giver. He served his community and was very involved serving in several capacities and receiving many awards to include: Chesterfield County Council for over 31 years, past president of the NAACP Pageland Branch #5541, Pee Dee Coalition, Pee Dee Transportation Board for 9 years, COD Board of Florence, Chesterfield Marlboro EOC Board, CHESCO Board, Alliance, SC Coalition of Black County Officials, SC Black Expo and Pageland Friend of Festival Award winner, and several State House of Representatives awards to name a few. He was a Master Mason and a lifetime member of the NAACP.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Richard and Emly (Penny), three sisters: Mildred, Elaine (Clarence), and Ola Mae.

He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 59 years Evelyn Miller of the home; one son: Gerald Al (Virginia) Miller of Pageland, SC; one daughter: Rosea Miller (Derrick McQueen) of Pageland, SC; three grandchildren: Alexander D. Miller, Meanna (Malik) Myers, and Marqueal Miller all of Pageland, SC; one great grandson, Ethan Myers of Pageland, SC; one brother: Robert (Lottie) Miller of Charlotte, NC; three sisters: Margaret Stokes of Jacksonville, FL, Ella (John) Cole of Fayetteville, GA and Elsie Longhall of Atlanta, GA; one brother-in-law: Robert Goss, one sister-in-law: Mary King; three special friends: Robert Adams, Lee Bracey, and James Miles; and his loving dog: Bearamy; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 1:00pm, Pageland Community Center, 1113 West McGregor Street, Pageland, South Carolina. Interment will follow the service at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Pageland, South Carolina.

The Miller Family will greet family and friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, NC and on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm at Pageland Community Center.

The public viewing will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 1:00-6:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home and on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm at Pageland Community Center.
