OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in the Plaisance Community for Mr. Elijah Malone, 81, who entered eternal rest on Friday, September 27, 2024 at his residence in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pastor Jason Rubin, Sr., Pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, will be officiating the funeral service.
Mr. Malone was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chair of the Deacon Board and a trustee. He was inducted into the Black History Hall of Fame by the NAUW of Opelousas.
Mr. Malone’s memories are being cherished by: his loving wife, Winnie Green Malone of Opelousas, LA; one son, Elijah Malone, Jr. of Opelousas, LA; five daughters, Kassandra Malone-Williams (Harold, Sr.) of Carencro, LA, Dr. Lonzetta Malone Newman (Chazz, Sr.) of Spring, TX, Miraquita Monique Scott (Lee Aaron), Lachana Malone McCartney (Ronald, Sr.) and Latosha Malone (Missy), all of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Lillie James of Lake Charles, LA and Willie Mae Semien of Houston, TX; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, George Malone, Sr. and Clementine Joubert Malone; one daughter, Gloria Watson; one brother, George Malone, Jr.; and five sisters, Ethel Pitre, Lessie Garland, Viola Griffin, Rosie Stevens and Georgia Dunbar.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
