Traci R. Drummond

Traci Richie Drummond, 56, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018. Ms. Drummond was born in Spartanburg, SC to Fannie L. Richie and Johnny L. McDowell.

She was a 1979 graduate of Spartanburg High School, after which she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Limestone College and a Master’s degree from Converse College.

Traci served as an elementary school music teacher for Spartanburg County District Seven Schools for over twenty-five years. She was previously employed by the Union County District Schools.

Lovingly funny, caring and exceedingly charitable, Traci was a role model for so many and her legacy will live on.

Left to cherish her beloved memory are her much loved daughters, Kiara Drummond of Charlotte, NC and Kensley Drummond of Spartanburg, SC; her mother, Fannie L. Richie of Spartanburg, SC; her father, Johnny L. McDowell (Mary) of Spartanburg, SC; her paternal grandmother, Ivory McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; her aunt, Sallie Lucas of Buffalo, NY; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Ms. Drummond will lie in state on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m at Majority Baptist Church.

A Celebration of the Life of Traci Richie Drummond will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Majority Baptist Church, 400 Hudson L. Barksdale Blvd., Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Linda M. Kirksey will preside and the Reverend Jackie O’Neal will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuckg, SC.

"A Musical Tribute Honoring the Life" for Traci, an accomplished musician and a professional conservatory trained vocalist, will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church.

The family will be seated promptly at 12:30 p.m.

The Omega Omega Service for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be conducted on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. The Final Rites are open to the public. Those in attendance must be seated prior to the start of the rites at 6:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. following the rites.

Kiara & Kensley Words can't express in the passing of your beautiful Mother Traci. I am praying for your Grand parents and also you two. Kensley & Kiara, stick close together and let nothing and no one come between you sisters. Your mother loved and adored you two young ladies beyond the grave. Keep trusting and believing in God for your healing. The pain is great at this time "BUT GOD" is able to comfort and keep you.
