Christine Wright Sanford

Passed 10/02/2024

Christine Wright Sanford was born in Hahira, Georgia, on March 5, 1957, to the late Melvin Wright, Sr., and the late Martha Ruth (Ronnie) Gray. She was the fourth of eight children: Annie Wright, Anthony Wright, Bennie (Bobbie) Wright, Diane (Ottie) Ratliff, Haywood (Rochelle) Wright, Curtis Wright, and Patricia Walters.

She met the love of her life, Mr. Anthony Sanford, Sr., at the age of fourteen, and they ran away and eloped. They were married for 50 years and 3 months. When you saw one, the other was never far behind. Her husband worked at the papermill for 42 years, and whatever shift he was on, so was she! They danced together, cooked together, and loved going to Panama City Beach. Their marriage was the epitome of love. Her favorite question was always, "Where's my Anthony?"

From their union, five children were born: Tony Wright, Sr., Kendrick (Latronza) Sanford, Kelly (Michael Sr.) Carter, Anthony (Megan) Sanford, Jr., and Kelvin (Thelma) Sanford.

From their children, 16 grandchildren and 2 beautiful great-granddaughters were born.

Christine had a real love for children. She fed every child that she came in contact with, and all the neighborhood kids loved her. She was the best homemaker and the absolute best cook.

She enjoyed being a wife more than anything! She gave her life to Jesus Christ, and it brings us great joy knowing that she is now resting with our Savior.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Melvin Wright, Sr., and Martha Gray; sisters-in-law, Donnie Wright, Josie Wright, and Sandra Sanford; two brothers-in-law:

Vance Sanford and Alfornia Sanford, Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Tru Camille Sanford.

She is survived by: her wonderful husband, five children; stepfather, Ronnie Gray; sixteen grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; seven siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
