Mr. Randolph Benton “Dolph” was born August 19, 1957 in Quitman, GA to the late Johnie C. Benton and Ora D. Benton. Randolph attended Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia and continued his education at Valdosta Technical School where he received his certification in Auto Mechanics.
Randolph was a loving, caring kindhearted Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He was very funny, and very helpful toward everyone he interacted with. He was a devoted, die hearted Pittsburgh Steelers Fan! He was employed with the city of Quitman, Georgia until his health failed. He later moved to Jacksonville, Florida.
On Friday, September 20, 2024 at Baptist Medical Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, Randolph transitioned to his eternal home Randolph was preceded in death by his parents, Ora D. Benton and Johnie Claude Benton, and brothers, Larry Sheppard and Bobby Sheppard.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons; Channing Dixon (Lola) and Joboa (Ananesia) of Valdosta, GA; three sisters, Cora Thomas (Mitchell) of Grayson GA. Ora Rhodes of Jacksonville, FL and Elizabeth Lacey of Valdosta, GA; ten brothers, Nathaniel Sheppard of Jacksonville, FL, Alfred Benton (Ana) of Grayson, GA Reginald Benton of Lawrenceville, GA, Robert Holloway (Marie) of Columbus, GA, Freddie Larry (Sarah) of Boston, GA, KC Sheppard (Bonnie) of Rex, GA, John Sheppard of Boston, GA, Johnny (Juanita) of Kinston, NC, Leroy Sheppard of Atlanta, GA, Thomas J. Sheppard of New York and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He also leaves a special nephew Henry Barnes, Jr. and a special friend Tommy Jackson.
Home going services will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11AM at Mt. Moriah Church in Quitman GA. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
