Robert Jones, Sr., 100, passed on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church located at 3694 US Highway 80 W, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Stephen K. Garrett, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing is 2:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Mr. Robert Preston “Buddy” Jones, Sr. was born to the union of Ed and Martha Jones on May 30, 1924.

Robert grew up in the community of Crawford, Alabama and Phenix City, Alabama. While living in the community, Robert met Mattie Louise Phillips (the love of his life). They married on February 17, 1946, and to this union nine offsprings were born.

Robert loved being outdoors and working around the home. His love for the outdoors involved gardening and cutting grass. He also had many crafts and talents. One that stood out the most was his love for music. Robert played the piano, guitar, and harmonica.

Robert joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in his later years and was a faithful member until his health started to decline. He departed this earthly life on October 6, 2024, at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia surrounded by family.

Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings and his beloved wife Mattie.

He leaves to cherish his memory a wonderful sister of Phenix City, Alabama, Edna Gordon. As well as two sisters in laws; Rose Carson Abram of Raleigh, North Carolina and Deborah Billingsley Tuggle of Kennesaw, Georgia.

Also, left to cherish his memory are his children: Robert Jones, Jr., Eddie (Gwen) Jones, Jessie Jones, Donnell Jones all Phenix City, Alabama. Ronnie (Linda) Jones and Martha Jones Colbert of Columbus, Georgia. Doris Jones Middlebrooks of Atlanta, Georgia. Juanita Jones Carr (Ronald) of Clarksville, Tennessee. James M. Jones of Blakely, Georgia. Tonya, Justin, Chris, and Reggie of Phenix City, Alabama. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
