Lillie Mae Boatman Brown was born on May 8, 1948, to the late David and Mattie Lee Boatman. She was the first child of six to their union. The lord smiled down on Lillie and said well done my child, is it time to come home and be at rest. At that point, Lillie was transition from earth to her Heavenly home on September 30, 2024, at her son's residence surrounded by her family and friends.

Lillie accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and joined the New Garden Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Dining Committee. She remained a dedicated and faithful member even throughout her extended illness.

Lillie received her elementary education in the Attala County School System. She continued her education at Tipton Street High School (known as The Bobcat), earning her high school diploma in 1966. Following her high school graduation, she attended Mississippi Valley State University for four years earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.

Lillie was united in Holy Matrimony to Joe Willie Johnson (who preceded her in death). Two sons, Antwon and Antonio Johnson were born to their union. On May 8, 1986, she united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Earl Brown (who preceded her in death). On son, Gary E. Brown was born to their union.

Lillie's passions for education begin at Lexington Elementary School under the leadership of the late Mr. Samuel Friar. Her teaching career in the Holmes County School District as an elementary teacher expanded for 38.75 years. Lillie dedicated her life's work to helping educate the boys and girls in the Holmes County School System. Some viewed her as being strict; but others viewed her as fair, but firm. During her many years of service, she did an outstanding job as a classroom teacher. She prepared the boys and girls for the challenges in the educational arena of tomorrow. She was also active in various school activities.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, traveling, surfing the internet, listening to music and reading. Lillie was a free hearted person. She believed in giving instead of receiving. She will be deeply and greatly missed by her family and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Mattie L. Boatman, nephew, Dewon Clark, and brothers-in-law, Henry Clark, Sr., Harold Towner and James “Sonny” Brown.

Lillie leaves to cherish her memories, three sons: Antwon (Erma) Johnson of Kosciusko, MS; Antonio (Pam) Johnson of Pembroke Pines, FL; and Gary E. (Danyelle) Brown of Birmingham, AL; four sisters: Julia Clark, Ruthie Towner, Mattie Smith and Jeanette Stewart, all of Kosciusko, MS; one brother: Henry (Dianne) Boatman of Kosciusko, MS; three grandchildren: Tyisha Johnson, Gary T. Brown and Mendarius K. Brown; three great-grandchildren: Bryleigh, Brysun Hopkins and Blaise Harmon; one aunt: Minnie Pearl Cole; three uncles: Chester Lee Cole and John Henry Cole, all of Kosciusko, MS, and Morris (Frances) Griffin of Liberty, MS and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
