Violet Anderson

Passed 10/14/2024

Violet B. Anderson, daughter of the late Carmen Vasquez and the late Julio Santos, was born and raised in Queens, New York, where she received her formal education.

Vi, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, moved to Harrisburg with her 4 children in 1962. Working various jobs, she eventually retired from both Bell Telephone and later PHEAA after 20 years of service. While Vi enjoyed working, her greatest enjoyment came from dancing, singing, crossword puzzles and lottery scratch offs. She was an avid sports fan, even coaching girls basketball teams in her younger years. Later in life, she would often be seen with her devoted daughter-in-law and son, at Senators baseball games, traveling, eating out and running daily errands. She loved to go everywhere Lisa and Gregg went.

When Vi became ill, she was cared for at Homeland Center located in Harrisburg, PA until her final days. She was described by staff as sweet and loving and loved to show off her dance moves whenever outside musicians would come in to showcase their talents. She had a preference of nurses and aides, but was the happiest when Gregg and Lisa alternated days coming to see her, bringing her applesauce, chocolates and her favorite cakes.

On October 14, 2024, Vi exchanged mortality for immortality joining in eternal life her parents Carmen and Julio, her husband, William Edwards and her sisters, Iris and Aurora. She leaves to mourn her death 4 children, Clifford Delaney (Cassie), Gregg Edwards (Lisa), Iris Anderson and Lisa Coca; 3 grandchildren, Clifford Jr., Briadi and Celia; along with other friends and extended family.

Vi's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
