Ronald (Ronnie) Dwayne Salsman, age 79 went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2024.
Services will be held at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas, October 29, 2024. We will have a memorial, and all family and friends are invited.
Ronnie was born in Lewisville, Texas on July 16, 1945 to Gordon O. Salsman and Olean Salsman. Ronnie had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He attended Lewisville High School where he excelled in academics and sports. He played football, baseball, basketball, and ran track for the Fighting Farmers.
He had scholarships to play college football but he chose to work. He had a milk route, and worked in the family concrete business. Ronnie felt committed to join the U.S. Army in 1965, where he was stationed at Ft. Polk, LA. After the army, he returned to the family concrete business until 1988. Ronnie went to work for the University of North Texas, where he retired as Facilities Supervisor of the concrete crew. He attended Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton for many years. He had a passion for studying his Bible. He was known for his kindness and love for people. He was voted “Most Friendly” in high school. He baptized over 500 men and women, and wanted everyone to know Jesus as their Savior. He taught us values, how to respect people, and how to work. His hobbies were writing poetry, buying and selling coins and antiques, playing mens fastpitch softball, having garage sales, and setting up at trade days. He loved all holidays at grandma’s house and spending time with his family, whom he truly cherished.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Gordon O. Salsman; mom, Olean Salsman Underwood; brother, Willie Salsman; brother, Gordon T. Salsman; brother, Jackie Salsman; son, Scott Salsman; grandson Gage Salsman; nephew, Bryan Taylor; great nephew, John Evan Salsman.
Survivors include son, Steve Salsman and wife Marla; sister Trudy Salsman Taylor; sister Brenda Salsman O’Kelley; brother Rick Salsman and wife Connie; brother Jimmy Salsman and wife Debbie; grandsons Tucker Salsman and Reid Salsman; great grandsons William Dwayne Salsman and Waylon Salsman, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
