Malik S. Williams

Passed 10/16/2024

MALIK SHAVARR WILLIAMS was born on September 30, 1996, to Bobby Lee and Michelle Rose (Coley) Williams. He was a beautiful big baby with a head full of hair and the biggest cheeks.

Malik loved football and basketball. He played Pop Warner football in middle school, where he was a member of the state champion Cary Chargers that participated in nationals in Orlando, Florida. He played AAU basketball in middle and high school. He was also a member of the 2014 4A Boys State Champion Basketball team. He had a smooth 3-point shot. We called him our million-dollar baby because of all the sports injuries, surgeries, and rehab.

He graduated from Apex High School in 2014 and received a BS degree in Information Technology from East Carolina University in 2020. One of his proudest accomplishments was working in IT with NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. As his family grew, he felt he needed to move them closer back home. He secured a position as a Cyber Security Engineer with Krispy Creme Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was a loving son, brother, companion, and father. He loved his family deeply. Family meant everything to him, especially his relationship with his Papa. His children were his entire world. Making time and protecting them was always a priority. He enjoyed watching shows with them, playing with them, taking them to the park and on walks.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Doris Coley, and paternal grandparents, Willie and Mary Williams. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jalen Jamaal Williams (Huntersville, North Carolina); beloved companion, Laurie Turbeville (Charlotte, North Carolina); children, Alaiyah Ulani Williams, Nova Chanel Williams, Kalia Rose Williams, Rowan Carter Williams, and Preston Gray Williams; maternal grandfather, Charles A. Coley, Sr., of Goldsboro, North Carolina; maternal aunts, Maxine (Michael) Richardson of Princeton, North Carolina and Cynthia (Thomas) Lockley of Ashburn, Virginia; maternal uncle, Kenneth Coley of Goldsboro, North Carolina; paternal uncles, Glenn Williams of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Robert Earl Reid of Mt.
