Irvin Miller, 66, passed Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. EST, Friday, November 1, 2024 at Nichols Chapel AME Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Wendell Jones, Pastor and Rev. Richard Carter, officiating. Burial to follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Public viewing is 1:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Irvin Miller was born November 2, 1957 in Phenix City, AL to the late Reverend Claude Miller and Marie Miller.
Irvin received his early education in the Phenix City School District. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Nichols Chapel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City, AL in 1972. He was a member of the Board of Trustees and previous member of the Sons of Allen. Irvin graduated from Central High School in 1976. Irvin attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL, Chattahoochee Community College (CVCC) and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He later joined the United States Navy where he served his country for 4 years. Irvin worked for the City of Phenix City Utilities Department until his retirement in June 2021.
Affectionately known as "77" and "I Miller", Irvin pledged at Eta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1977. His line name was The Prince of Charm. Irvin was a Charter member of the Lambda Mu Nu chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc in Phenix City, AL. He loved his beloved fraternity in which he referred to as Da Bruhz and would always say "I'm Omega Psi Phi 'til I die".
Irvin was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Claude L. Miller, Sr. mother, Marie Miller; seven brothers, Emmitt Miller, Hamp Miller, Claude Miller Jr., James W. Miller, Joel Miller, Decatur Miller, and Clarence Miller; six sisters, Martha Alford, Eunice Mitchell, Lucy Jones, Ruby Freeman, Earnestine Miller and Martha Mahone.
Irvin leaves to cherish his memories a son, Harry Terrell Sneed of Phenix City AL; one daughter, Chloe Burgess of Queens, NY; one god daughter, Keisha Sneed of Atlanta,GA; one grandson, Jahquarius Sneed; one brother, Theophilus (Gwendolyn) Miller of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Myrtice Chambers of Phenix City, AL and Beverly (Michael) Taylor of Athens, AL; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Miller of Phenix City, AL and Jacquelyn Miller of Seale, AL; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
