Ethel Hardy

Passed 10/16/2024

Ethel Lee (Scooter) Hardy was born in Kosciusko, MS on February 22, 1942. She was the 11th of fifteen children born to the late Andrew Jackson Winters (Bus) and Lenora Winters.

Ethel accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. In her earlier years, she resided in Kosciusko where she married her first husband, Allen (Hootchie) Ford in April of 1956. Six beautiful children were born to this union: Betty Ann Ford, Laura Martin, Vale Marshall, Allen Ford, Jr., Jeffrey Ford and Clifton Ford. While this first union ended in divorce in 1975, Scooter and Hootchie remained dedicated to their joint mission to support, encourage, and love their children. Scooter was a loving daughter, mom, and sister. She was kind to all who knew her. She was a role model for her family, very talented at “making ends meet” and a true entrepreneur.

In 1985, Ethel married Jack Hardy and they lived together in harmony in Houston, TX where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Scooter departed this life on October 16, 2024, and she is now with those loved ones who preceded her in death i.e., her husband, Jack, her parents, Bus and Lenora, her son, Clifton, her granddaughter, Tasneshia Rodgers, six brothers, Harvey, Allen, Delma, AJ, MC & Matthew, and five sisters, Iresse, Edna, Thelma, Mary Lee, and Dessier Lee Turnbo-Latiker.

She leaves to celebrate her home-going, her daughters, Betty, Laura, and Vale; her sons, Allen Jr. and Jeff and her stepdaughters, Dorothy Foster and Valencia Hardy; her brother, James (Georgia); two sisters, Sarah Buchanan and Inez Witners and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends will deeply feel her absence.
