Sister Annie Will Murphy Brown

10/06/1944 - 10/22/2024

Annie Will Brown was born in Cottondale, Florida, to Warren and Letha Murphy, who both preceded her in death. After moving to Panama City, she was able to complete her education and began a 28-year career with Bay Medical Hospital. She continued there as a member of the Housekeeping Department until her retirement in 1998. After her husband, Jolly Brown, passed away in 1973, Annie’s most treasured thing was her family. Although she did not have any biological children, her nieces and nephews became “her babies” whom she loved and spoiled rotten. She did whatever was necessary to ensure that they had a roof overhead and all of the things they needed to thrive. Of course, she didn’t just focus on the children; she also actively helped care for her siblings when they became ill and preceded her in death: Freddie Lee Norman, Jimmy Murphy, Gladys Burke, and Joann Murphy. In recent years, since 2018, she enjoyed studying the Bible with her friend, Taffie Varner, and enjoyed attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in person or on Zoom when she wasn’t able to physically go. She was loved and appreciated by the Springfield congregation. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted caregivers, niece, Quinton and husband, Bobby Williams; beloved nephew and niece, Mario Murphy and Crystal Murphy; great-nephews and nieces; Austin (Natalia) and Sasha Williams, Mario McGregor, Mercedes McGregor, Brice Murphy, Kali McGregor, Kamryn McGregor, Destiny Black, and Ronnie Black; special brother-in-law, Ellis Burke (Glenda); and sister-in-law, Alice Murphy (Dan Black). In addition, there are a host of other relatives, local and long distance, who will truly miss her. Annie had very special friends, from work and the neighborhood, who have stuck by her through the good days as well as when her health declined. This is fitting, because Proverbs 17:17 says, “A true friend shows love at all times, and is a brother who is born for times of distress.”
