Willie Curry

The family of Willie Myrtle Easley Curry of Cleveland, OH, formerly of Alpine/Talladega, AL, sadly announces her passing on October 20, 2024 in Houston, TX. Willie was born to Robert Easley and Cornelia Easley in Alpine, Alabama in November 1934. She was the last child born from this union along with her twin sister Lillie Curry. Her other siblings were Smiley, Robert, Walker, Henry, Wallace, Pearl, Fannie and Juanita.

Willie married Lee Curtis Curry of Talladega, Alabama and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. They remained married for 46 years until his passing. To their union Juan, Sandra, and Pamela were born.

For over 65 years Willie loved and served the Lord at Parkwood CME Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member and sang in the choir for many years.

Willie graduated from Talladega County Training in Talladega, Alabama and attended Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a Supervisor in Environmental Health Services at University Hospital for over 30 years. For her service there, she attained status to the Quarter Century Club and retired.

She loved her community and was an avid community activist. Willie served as President for the East 154th Street Club for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Council, where she was honored as Senior Citizen of the year. Additionally, she enjoyed working as a voter’s registration volunteer.

Family was her first love and priority. She was known for her genuine kindness, loving nature, caring spirit, humorous personality and her limitless generosity. Willie lived a life bridging peace and sharing wisdom to all. In addition to attending church, she also enjoyed concerts and theatre plays.

Preceding her in death was her husband Lee Curtis Curry, son Juan Curtis Curry, twin sister Lillie Curry and all other siblings. Willie is survived by her loving, devoted and faithful daughters Sandra Curry and Pamela Rose. Son-in-law Daniel Rose, two grandsons, Daniel Rose II and Brandon Rose, two great grandchildren Zoey Rose and Axyl Rose. Beloved nephews Chester Curry and Sylvester Curry and a host of other family and friends.
