EBONE’ ARIEL CHAVIS, 36, peacefully slept into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Ebone’ was born on July 22, 1988, in High Point, NC to Stephany Steed-Chavis and Rory Chavis.
Ebone’ was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Carol L. Steed; uncle, Johnny Steed, Jr.; aunt, Sandra Allen.
Ebone’ lived with a vibrant burst of light and joy to all who knew and loved her. Ebone’s spirit was filled with motivation, education, inspiration, wisdom, and knowledge to uplift Romero, her family, friends, and community-at-large. Ebone’ met no strangers as she lived her life freely and welcomed all to join her zealous living.
Ebone’ was raised in the Baptist faith and was baptized at an early age at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Ebone’ was employed with the United States Postal Service for more than a decade.
Ebone’ attended and graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School and received her Diploma with the Class of 2006, where Ebone’ was recognized for many academic achievements, including being named twice as Who’s Who in American High Schools. As an extension of her family’s education legacy and her mother’s diligent encouragement and support to be a life-long learner, Ebone’ continued her pursuit of higher education at North Carolina Central University, majoring in Textiles and Fashion Design. Ebone’ garnered her family’s legacy and demonstrated her leadership skills throughout her life educating Romero, her family, her friends, and anyone who listened.
Ebone’s greatest achievement, Romero Idris Chavis (Ro), was born on August 25, 2016. Ebone’ embraced and owned Motherhood with style and grace.
Ebone’ developed numerous life-long bonds and friendships with classmates, co-workers, and associates near and far. Ebone’ impacted many lives with her supportive and encouraging words to others. Ebone’s gift of dialogue and ability to engage others in conversation, launched her Podcast, “The MouthPiece” on November 8, 2017, to extend her authentic self and invite others in the expansion of her platform of powerful and effective words of wisdom.
Ebone’ leaves to cherish her life and legacy, her pride and joy, son, Romero Chavis; mother, Stephany; father, Rory; three brothers, Rory, Cory, and Zephanijah (Mary); one sister, Yakira; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Gladys Chavis; maternal grandfather, Johnny Steed Sr.; uncles, Trey Chavis, and Jahmal Bey (Dallas, TX); special aunts Christie, Lorraine, Penny, “Tab”, Treva, and Vanessa; godmother, Devona; best friend-sister, Tierra; several great-aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Ebone’s life legacy is embedded in our hearts and souls, and we will carry her memory until “we meet again.”
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with Bishop Orrick Quick officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
