Edna Mae, 72 years young, passed at 9:30 am at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee on October 25, 2024.

Edna Mae was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, friend and grandmother.

She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mr. Modist & Mrs. Mary Harmon. Edna Mae had two sisters, Mary & Shirley, and one younger brother, Mozell Harmon.

Edna Mae met and married United States, Air Force Sgt., James M. Griffin Sr. They had two children before leaving Memphis, Donna Mechelle and James Martin Jr.

Soon after, they received military orders to move to Washington State, to be stationed at McChord Air Force Base (Tacoma) where they would lay roots, build a home and would continue to grow and raise their family TOGETHER.

In 1977, Edna Mae became a proud mother of her third child, Terrance Martin Griffin.

Edna Mae continued to pursue a career in the nursing and healthcare industry. She soon went on to acquire her CNA in nursing & health care. Shortly after, Edna was hired with Western Clinic Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, where her medical career thrived.

Not only did Edna work outside the home, she successfully managed to run a household and was also an active and loving mother and wife – 24/7.

Edna Mae was an active member in her local community church and loved to help with her kids’ school’s PTA activities. Once her children were all successfully raised and out of the homestead, Edna Mae decided to move back home to Memphis, Tennessee. Over those next 30 years, she helped take care of her mother along with her siblings.

Edna Mae Griffin (Harmon) is survived by her three children, Donna Mechelle, James Martin Jr. (wife, Stephanie) and Terrance Martin; her oldest sibling, Mary (Harmon) Guy; twelve grandchildren, Chynnah, Chris Jr., Candice, Jasmine, Austin, Shaiya, Isaiah, Aliyah, Jayden, Kietrich, Elias & Trevaris; two great-grandchildren, Kayson Lamar and Xavier Malcom; and her life-long, loving CATpanion, Caesar.

The family has scheduled a public viewing for Saturday November 02, 2024 from 10am until service of celebration time 11am both at R. S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home 3651 Austin Peay Hwy.
