Ms. Ernestine Johnson, 68, of Salem, AL passed Sunday, November 3, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM EST, Monday, November 11, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial in St. Paul CME Church Cemetery, Crawford, AL. Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 2 - 5 PM EST.

On November 3, 2024, Ernestine Johnson peacefully entered her eternal rest. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to so many. For over 20 years, she worked at the Alabama Council on Human Relations, where her dedication and warmth left a deep mark. Ernestine formed countless friendships there, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. To list all her dear friends and coworkers would be impossible; she cherished each one, and they were truly like family to her.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Mae Johnson and Elijah P. Johnson; her brothers, William P. Johnson and Robert F. Johnson; her sister, Dorothy Kate Fuller; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Fuller. She carried their memories close to her heart.

She leaves behind her only daughter, Kimberly Johnson, who loved her deeply and will forever feel the weight of her absence. Ernestine was Kimberly’s constant support and guiding presence, and the bond they shared was truly special.

Ernestine is also survived by her sister, Diane Johnson, and her brothers, Johnny “Darrell” Johnson and Henry Johnson, along with his wife, Kate. The strength of their bond and the unwavering support they shared will be deeply missed.

Among her family, Ernestine shared a close relationship with her nephew, Cordera Elijah Johnson. Their connection was strong and meaningful, and he held a special place in her life.

In her neighborhood, Ernestine found a dear friend in Ethel Buckhanon, her close neighbor who became like family. She also shared a deep and lasting friendship with Charlie Seroyer, whom she loved like a brother.

Ernestine’s memory will live on through family of nieces, nephews, friends, and everyone who was touched by her care and strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
