On February 21, 1965, LeRoy (Lee) Head, Jr. was born in Quitman, Georgia to Leroy Head, Sr. and the late Bettye Davis Head. He was the 4th child and only son born to his parents.
He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Latashia D. Head. Lee was educated in the Brooks County School System and graduated with the Class of 1984. Lee had the desire to see the world and chose to become a Marine. He believed the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine!” His initial duty station would be Camp Pendleton, California. Briefly after being meritoriously promoted to Corporal, he would begin his tour as a Marine Security Guard serving at US Embassy Port of Spain, Trinadad, US Embassy Yugoslavia and US Embassy Buenos Aries, Argentina (88-91). After completion of a successful tour, he would return to Camp Pendleton before serving recruiting duty in Charleston, South Carolina (93-96). He would then continue to serve in Quantico, Virginia, Camp Lejune, North Carolina and after 21 years of honorable service would retire as a Master Sergeant from the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, South Carolina. After his retirement, Lee had already decided on his next career. He went to truck driving school in Weatherford, Texas. He had the desire to transition into a career that granted complete autonomy and after briefly driving for different companies would buy his own semi. Lee drove for 17 years and loved it.
Lee attended the River of Life Church in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was blessed to have two daughters, LeAndra and Tylah Head. Lee later married DeAndre Parker and to this union was blessed to have one son, Jalen Lemiah Head.
He leaves many fond memories (because he was the life of the party), his children, LeAndra and Tylah Head of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Jalen Head of Charleston, SC; three sisters, Barbara Head of Quitman, Georgia, Rosalyn Head of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Deborah (Henry) Thompson of Kathleen, Georgia; aunts, Carrie H. Butts, Mary H. (Wayne) Brooks, Mary D. Butler, Ada (Doug) Whitaker and Marjorie (Michael) Mosley; uncles, Bobby (Darlene) Head and Wesley Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
