HIS JOURNEY
BRIAN KENNETH ELBY was born to Marian and the late Melvin K. Elby, Jr. On Saturday, October 26, 2024, at sixty-three years of age, Brian Kenneth Elby transitioned to be with his Lord.
Educated in the Central Dauphin School District. Brian was employed by the Alternative Rehabilitation Communities, Inc. for 20 years. Brian was a foster parent to many youth. He opened his heart and his home to all; he loved and accepted everyone. Over ten years, Brian was a foster parent to over 20 boys. Later, he was employed by the New Cumberland Army Depot, where he retired.
Brian and LaRisa were joined in matrimony on August 29, 1998. They shared 26 years of marital bliss. Brian and LaRisa were blessed to share over forty-six years together.
Brian was baptized at Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church. As an adult, he joined Bethel AME Church, where he served as a member of the Board of Trustees. Brian later joined Turner Memorial Baptist Church. He served as a faithful member of Turner Memorial Baptist Church for ten years.
Brian loved music, all sports, traveling, attending family reunions in North Carolina, attending comedy shows with his Sunshine and politics. Brian loved attending church and praising the Lord. Brian enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Melvin K. Elby, Jr. and brother, Gary D. Elby. He leaves to cherish precious memories of him, his wife, LaRisa Elby; his mother, Marian Elby of Carlisle, PA; his children, LaBria Elby, Breyon Elby and Arie Elby, all of Harrisburg, PA; his grandchildren, Landen McKinnon, Dayshawne McKinnon, Kinnari Proctor, Layla McKinnon and Zhuri Proctor, all of Harrisburg, PA; his sisters, Lesli Elby of Steelton, PA and LaToya Elby of Harrisburg, PA; his sisters-in-law, Dolorez Cobb Jones (Michael), Marshaun Cobb, Poncie Cathy (Ray) and Lynette Elby, all of Harrisburg, PA; his brother-in-law, Tyran Cobb of Harrisburg, PA; best friends, Bob Williams of Harrisburg, PA, Tim Jones of Philadelphia, PA; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the Sanctuary of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, 2447 Green Street, Harrisburg with viewing and visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
