The funeral services for the late Mr. David Pickett, who departed this life on Friday, November 8, 2024, will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Jasper Bateman will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. David Pickett, Jr., lovingly known as “Poodick”, was born on November 21, 1959 in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. David Pickett, Sr. and Milton Ruth Pickett.
David attended schools in the Turner County Public School System.
Early in his life, David gave his life to Christ and joined Zion Hope Baptist Church in Sycamore, GA.
David loved watching the NFL games, as he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
On Friday November 8, 2024, God decided that David needed the burdens of this world lifted off his shoulders and He called David home to rest. His parents, David Pickett, Sr. and Ruth Pickett, a brother, Freddie Bateman, and two grandchildren, Ethan Taylor and London Williams, have all preceded him in death.
David leaves to cherish his memories his nine children, , Mikita Walker of Grovetown, GA, Kirven Grimes, Schaquetta Pickett, Tosha Pickett, all of Ashburn, GA, Tomica Shipman of Tampa, FL, Za’Kerri Pickett, Keyanna Davis, Shankilra King, Jaylen Hillmon, all of Ashburn, GA; twenty-six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; brothers, Derrick (Latasha) Pickett, James Pickett, Jerome Holley, all of Ashburn, GA, Anthony (Laverne) Pickett of Valdosta, GA; sisters, Eloise Walker, Barbara Johnson, Linda (Marvin) Mency, all of Ashburn, GA, Shirley (Danny) Hawk of Tifton, GA; aunts and uncles, Gloria (Charles) Edwards, Shirley Bateman, Willie Mae Bateman, Donna Bateman, Vivian Bateman, Tommy C. (Sylvia) Bateman, all of Ashburn, GA, Jasper (Madella) Bateman of Sumner, GA, Willie (Pat) Patrick of Atlanta, GA; his loving and devoted friends, Curtis Dawson, Lewis Young, Shanon Young, Larry Martin, Bam Burgess; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
