Lucy Sanks, 82, passed on Thursday, November 8, 2024 in Columbus,GA.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Sunday, November 17, 2024 at St. John A.M.E. Church located at 944 AL-165, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Rev. Antonio James, eulogist, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. EST.

Mrs. Lucy Mae Chambers Sanks was born October 6, 1942 to the late Wilson and Carrie Dixon Chambers. She departed her earthly home on November 8, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital.

At an early age she confessed Christ and joined St. John AME Church Downtown FT Mitchell where she served on the Senior Usher Board and sung in the Senior Choir until her health failed.Mrs. Sanks served many years as the president of The Methodist Baptist Community Choir Concerts. She was a 1961 Graduate of Mount Olive High School.Mrs. Sanks was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life. The late Johnnie B. Sanks on April 14, 1968. To this union three children were born Aurea, Tianna, Maekeius.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Carrie Chambers. Husband Johnnie B. Sanks and her siblings; Wilson Chambers Jr., Jessie James, Arthur Chambers Sr., Charles Chambers, Vera Smith, and Louise Dixon.

Special memories will be forever cherished by her children; daughters Aurea Ann Sanks Streeter (Anthony), Tianna Shangee Sanks (Alonzo), and son Markeius Tarshad Sanks (Yolanda) all of Phenix City, Alabama. Bonus children Ronnie Alexander of Phenix City, AL, Cynthia Alexander of Phenix City, AL, and Melissa Gant of Cedar Hill, TX. The apple of her eyes, her grandchildren Therllenicia, Traniecia, and Jaharia Sanks, Demita Preer Pridgett all of Phenix City, AL. Great grandchildren; Demetrius, DeAndre, and Dazelle Pridgett . Her special babies LaTonya Lemons, Nehemiah Lemons, Jeremiah Lemons. Her sister in law Dorothy James, Mytrice Chambers and Mary (Tommy) Dixon. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
