Mr. Joe “Wooden To” Morgan, Jr. of Smiths, AL passed Monday, November 18, 2024 in Smiths, AL.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Monday, November 25, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Winfred McCoy, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Public viewing is 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Mr. Joe “Wooden To” Morgan, Jr. was born February 10, 1935 in Smiths Station, AL to the late Joe and Daisy Morgan. He departed this life at his residence on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Mr Morgan accepted Christ at the ripe age of 85, was baptized, and became a member of St. Mark CME Church in Motts, AL., under the leadership of Rev. Winfred McCoy. He attended church there until his health began to fail.

He began his employment at Phenix Lumber Company at the age of 22. He worked there for 65 plus years.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Florence Morgan; son, Bobby Lee Morgan; daughter, Brenda Jean Griffin; granddaughter, Tish Morgan; grandson, Michael Thompson; five sisters, Daisy Morgan, Lillian (Frank) Wilson, Carrie Morgan, Annie Morgan, and Maggie Pearl Morgan; three brothers, Clarence Morgan, Oscar Morgan, and James (Johnny) Morgan.

He leaves to cherish his memories a son, Roger (Jerelene) Morgan; two daughters, Joann (Henry) Hood, Patricia (Michael) Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Johnny (James) Morgan, Dorothy Clark; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
