Mrs. Stacy Shedrick Favors, 54, of Leary, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Macedonia Baptist Church, 1192 Milford Church Road, Leary, Georgia 39862.
Interment will follow in the Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Road, Albany, Georgia 31707.
A Time to be born: Ecclesiastes 3:2 – Sister Stacy Shedrick Favors was born December 25, 1969 in Albany, Georgia to the union of the late Andrew Shedrick, Sr. and the late Lucille Key Shedrick. She was the youngest child born to the loving family.
A Time to Learn: 2 Timothy 2:15 – Stacy attended the public schools of Dougherty County, Georgia and was a 1987 graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School where she participated in band and excelled in the classroom. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia in 1992. She later matriculated to Troy State University where she earned a Master of Education degree.
A Time to Cherish: I Corinthians 7:3 – On May 30, 2014, Stacy was united in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Wash Favors, Jr. The soulmates and long-time friends enjoyed 10 years of a loving relationship.
A Time To Serve: Revelation 14:7 – Stacy diligently served as a middle school teacher, principal and professional learning coordinator in the Sumter County Georgia School System, being selected for many special awards, including Teacher Of The Year, during her time there. She retired after 27 years of professional service to the Public School System. In 2019, she began her journey at Phoebe Family Tree and continued serving there as Director of the Child Development Center until her passing.
At an early age, Stacy confessed Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Leary, GA. She was active as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and President of the Mission Department. She was also active with the Newton Baptist Association as President of the Women’s Convention and member of the Scholarship Committee. Additionally, Stacy served with grace in support of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Deacon Favors is a member. She was a faithful and dedicated member and servant until her death.
Stacy was a very proud, active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Eta Omega Chapter, Inc., Albany, Georgia. She worked diligently in support of all of the Sorority’s initiatives. Her passion was working with the Empowering Young Ladies (EYL) Program, which she led until her health failed.
A Time To Die: Ecclesiastes 3:2 – On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Stacy departed this life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. She answered God’s final call of patience, strength and endurance that her soul may rest in peace. Stacy was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lucille Shedrick, Sr.; her brother, Andrew Shedrick, Jr.; her God-mother, Betty Jean Covin; her God-brother, Rod Covin and her bonus daughter: Demetrius Patrick.
A Time To Mourn: Ecclesiastes 3:4 – Stacy leaves many to cherish fond memories: a loving and devoted husband: Wash Favors, Jr. (of the home); a dedicated daughter: Keri J. Mack (Devonta) of Warner Robins, GA; one bonus son: Antwane Favors of Leary, GA; one grandson: Master Devonta Berryhill of Warner Robins, GA; one bonus granddaughter: Lyric Travis of Macon, GA: three bonus grandsons: Alonte Travis of Macon, GA, Javeon Favors and Jahmaud Favors of Dothan, AL; one sister: Ola Jean Howze (Cleo) of Newport News, VA.; one brother: Charlie J. Shedrick (Carlise) of North Charleston SC; four sisters-in-law: Diane Williams Shedrick of Albany, GA; Carolyn Favors and Katy Cox (Calvin) of Leary, GA and Lois Johnson (Sylvester) of Albany, GA; four brothers-in law: Robert Lee Favors (Bertha) and Rev. Leroy Favors (Debra) of Leary GA, Johnny Will Favors and Johnny B. Favors (Flora) of Albany, GA; three uncles: Charlie Lee Key (Betty) of Leary, GA, Robert Shedrick, Sr.(Annie) of Hampton, VA, and James Shedrick, Sr. of Newton, GA; three aunts: Aline Shedrick Brown of Clinton, MD, Essie Shedrick of Newton, GA, and Hutis Williams of Atlanta, GA; one God-brother: Rev. Julius Covin (Linda) of Lee County, GA; two God sisters: Angela Sumbry (Melvin) and Annie Mae Potts both of Albany, GA; one God-sister-in-law: Yolanda Covin of Albany, GA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, sorority sisters and many friends.
