Frederick D. Carter

On Monday, November 8, 2024, Frederick Douglas Carter, a loving husband, and father passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Frederick Douglas Carter was born on June 8, 1952, to Mr. Hunt and Mattie Thelma Barron.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Lee Carter and two stepchildren, David Lee Parks, and Rickie Lee Parks. A special father figure in his life, Mr. B. L. Brown preceded him in death as well.

He later remarried the love of his life Glory Jean Bentley Carter on October 18, 2003, who was beside him until the Lord called him home.

Frederick Douglas Carter was born in Sallis, Mississippi in which he lived until age 6. He then moved to Chicago, Illinois where he grew up. He attended Betsy Ross Elementary School and Englewood High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He did his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Caroline and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also was stationed on an aircraft in an undisclosed location. He actively served in the Marine for four years.

As life goes on, he began working for J.C. Cheek Contractors Inc. who specializes in highway construction for many years. He then started truck driving school at Holmes Community College in Goodman, MS where he obtained his CDL's. He began his trucking career driving for many different companies such as Total Transportation, CAT Trucking, J.J. Ferguson, Miller, and he then decided to become an owner-operator and drive for himself. His trucking career was over a period of 30+ years. Even though, he spent most of his time on the road, he loved spending time with family and friends when he came home. He also enjoyed going fishing when he could find the time.

Frederick (Fred) Carter leaves behind to cherish is his memories, his beloved wife, Glory Jean Carter, his beloved uncle, Fred Sandifer (Red Fred), 10 bonus children, Tennie Madison, Ronnie Madison, Johnnie (Patricia) Madison, Cathy (Rob) Grant, Demond (Jordan) Howard, Robert Madison, Sharonda Madison, Felicia Brown, Gloria Zollicoffer, Tanasha Hannah. Three sisters, Shirley Potts, Jean Barron-Day, Michele Barron, and two brothers, Glenn (Lee Ann) Barron and Michael (Maxine) Barron. A special sister, Flora Mae Flower, forty-seven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
