Mrs. Fannie Mae Cherry Millender, 83, of Moss Point, Mississippi passed away to eternal rest February 5, 2018. She was born February 17, 1934 to Cliniece Stallworth and Ollie Cherry. Fannie was preceded in death by her late husband, Mack A. Millender; son, Herman Safford, Sr.; parents, Cliniece Stallworth and Ollie Cherry; brothers, A.C. Cherry, LeVant Cherry, and Joseph Broughton. Fannie attended Magnolia High School, where she played on the basketball team. She joined Summerville United Methodist Church, at an early age, and remained a member until her untimely death. She retired, from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a laborer, after twenty-six years of employment. She leaves cherished memories to her sons: Vince Safford, Pascagoula, MS, Ralph Safford, Mike Safford, and Mack (Faye) Millender, all of Moss Point, MS, and John Johnson, Ocean Springs, MS; daughters, LaTonya Gibson (Tommy Bullock), Victoria Millender, and Cherrie (Danny) Betts, all of Moss Point, MS; daughter-in-law, Marsha McMillian Safford, Escatawpa, MS; mother-in-law, Arzella Johnson, Beatrice, AL; sisters, Jean Franklin, Pensacola, FL; Pearl Nelson, Moss Point, MS, and Sheila Lucas, Detroit, MI; brothers, Robert (Virta) Cherry, Sr., Gene (Clarice) Cherry, Sr., and Thomas (Mary) Stallworth, Sr., all of Moss Point, MS; devoted grandson, Jabbari Gibson; devoted nieces, Roberta Cherry-Watts, Collins, MS, and LaTanya Stallworth-Ali, Atlanta, GA.; devoted nephews, Thomas Stallworth, Jr. and Gene Cherry, Jr., both of Moss Point, MS, and Robert Cherry, Jr., Escatawpa, MS; devoted friends, Janice (John) Mosley, Nell Hollifield, Beulah Booker, and Iris Cope, all of Moss Point, MS; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Summerville United Methodist Church, 4100 Dutch Bayou Road, Moss Point, MS. The viewing will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services in Plainer Cemetery, Moss Point, MS.
