Bertha Lee Woodruff

Bertha Lee “Sister” Gibbs-Woodruff was the second born of eleven children to the late Henry Ford and Rosie Lee Gibbs on March 14, 1949 in Inverness, MS.

Our beloved sister transitioned on November 20, 2024 to be with her husband Rev. J.T. Curtis “Dank” Woodruff, two sons, the oldest son who transitioned in September of 1969 and Keith Bernard Woodruff, her brothers: W.T. “Bud” Gibbs, Johnnie B Gibbs, Henry Lee Gibbs, her sister: Rosie “Badgal” Gibbs, maternal grandparents: Joe and Laura Walker, paternal grandparents: Floyd and Florida Gibbs, paternal in -laws: Mrs. Mammie Rhodes Woodruff and Mr. William Henry Woodruff, several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins.

Bertha began her childhood education at Dunleith Elementary School, and she attended various high schools in Mississippi before moving. Bertha was unwavering in her dedication to Jesus Christ, studying her bible and reading her daily scripture every morning, then eating her breakfast. Bertha was a faithful member of Mt Herman Baptist Church, Mansfield, OH and later joined Rock Hill Baptist Church, White Plains, GA, where she served and worked with the Women Ministry, teaching Sunday School, and loving on All God’s Children.

Bertha Lee “Sister” Woodruff will be missed by many. Her legacy and cherished memories we will be celebrated by her entire family, Seven (siblings) Jimmy Lee (Yvette) Gibbs Jacksonville, FL, Alice (Supt Henry) Bradley, Mansfield, OH, Betty Lee Gibbs, Las Vegas, NV, JT Petty, Indianapolis, IN, Willie James Gibbs Sr., Robert Curtis Gibbs, both of Mansfield, OH, Penelope (Eld Laudell) Ford, Cahokia, IL, brother-in-law Columbus “Boot -Tee” (Elizabeth) Woodruff, two aunts Azell Vickers, Pittsburgh, CA, a special Aunt Beulah Granger, Mansfield, OH, one uncle R.C. Gibbs, Bay Point, CA, a godson Joshua Brown, White Plains, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family.
