Mother Alice Faye Wright, 77, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Riverside Cemetery, 200 Cotton Ave, Albany, Georgia 31701.

A Time to be born: Ms. Alice “Faye” Wright was born on March 20, 1947, in Albany, Georgia to the late Assa Harris and the late Mildred Elizabeth Cain Harris.

A Time to Serve: Alice joined 1st Mt. Olive Baptist Church at the age of 12 in 1959 under the pastorage of Reverend James Clausen. She was an active member in the Junior and Senior choirs. She also served on the kitchen committee under the leadership of Mrs. Melissa Stokes. She had 36 years of teaching in Coffee County and Dougherty County School System.

A Time to be Educated: She graduated from Monroe Comprehensive High School in 1965. She also graduated from Albany State College and Georgia State University with her master’s degree in education. She worked for Bob’s Candies while in high school to provide for her family.

A Time to Be Embraced: Ms. Alice was loved by many, especially the ones that loved her dearly. She embraced life experiences with no worries. She enjoyed teaching, getting her hair done, eating, and one of her favorite food she was fond of was the outshine strawberry popsicles, and she loved sweets. Ms. Alice was a loving person she was straight to the point; tell it like it is person that loved teaching her children throughout her teaching career. She retired after 36 years as a schoolteacher. She was a strict hard-working teacher when it came to her students. She took her teaching very seriously because she knew they would be the future. “Faye” as her son and only child would call her because that’s the bond they had. Terrence loved his mother dearly and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his “Faye”. As the only child and as a man, he did his best, but he knew it was time for Faye to take her rest.

A Time to Rest: Ms. Alice earthly journey ended at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on December 2, 2024, as She transition to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bettye Jean Wright Mathis and Louise Gunn; 3 brothers, John Wright, Russell Harris, and Bobby Harris.

A Time to Cherish: Ms. Alice leaves behind a loving, caring, and devoted son, Terrence L. Wright; her siblings, Mrs. Eva (Andrew, Sr.) Griffin, Ms. Teronice Harris, Ms. Marion Harris, Mrs. Rosa McCray, all of Albany, GA, Valerie (Eddie) Sherman, Hephzibah, GA, Mrs. Marie Harris Jones, Lakehurst, NJ, Mr. Henry Harris, Newark, NJ; her God sisters, Genevieve (Hubbard) Griffin, Rita Webb, Sallie Odum; God brothers, Rodney Gary, Grady Yancey, Atlanta, GA; Dafney McClendon who was like the daughter she never had (a special bond that they only understood); bonus granddaughter, Sherrie McClendon who loved her like a grandmother and would do anything Faye would asked to do no matter what is was; one granddaughter, De’Jarik McClendon; two bonus grandchildren, Jayshawn and Jamyla; three special caregivers, Bernice Lewis, Harriet Gainer and Tameka Wade who was like a daughter; Goddaughter, Maya Griffin and other host of relatives and friends.
