Mrs. Barbara Madden Taylor, 75, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Barbra Jean Madden-Taylor was born in Gadsden, Alabama on March 13, 1949, to the late Mr. Ted Madden and the late Mrs. Odella Turner-Madden.
Barbara confessed Christ at an early age and waws baptized at the First Baptist Church, Green Pastures. After life changing situations, she later joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Sayles, Sr. Barbara served faithfully as an Overseer of the Kitchen Committee and was widely known for her delicious mouthwatering 7-up pound cake. Barbara served as Secretary of the ladies Sunday School Class and was a dedicated member of the choir and devoted Matron Society President.
Barbara, affectionately known as “Jean” graduated from Carver High School, class of 1967.
Barbara was married to the late Ulysses Wynn for a period of time and later married the late Calvin Taylor.
Barbara retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after being employed for over 20 years. In serving the community, Barbara was a member of the City of Gadsden Beautification Board.
Barbara entered her eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at her home in Gadsden, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted R. and Odella Madden; sister Yvonne Madden-Guinn.
Barbara leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, her caring daughter, Angela K. Madden; caring son, Jonathan D. (Monica) Wynn, Sr.; adopted daughter Tangela (Clifford Junior) Wynn, grandchildren Jhordan D. Madden, Shalynn, Jonlecia, Johnathan Wynn, Jr., Aliyah Wynn, Jaquavious Stevenson, Johnterrian Wynn, and Zahkarriyah George; great-grandchildren: Emmanuel Crumpler, Kimoree Huntley, Meilani Wynn, Khalil Wynn, Summer Wynn, Mantavian Pace, Jr., Kingston Wynn and Quentin Henderson; Siblings Laura M. Benson, Neal R. Madden, and Cynthia D. Madden; four faithful friends, Barbara Kendricks, Florence Glass, Fay Edwards, and Ruby Brisker; special nephew, Ricko D. Madden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
Public viewing will be at 11am-5pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 12noon on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church. Eulogist: Pastor Z'Andre Huff. Interment: Lincoln Hill Memorial Gardens.
