The funeral services for the late Mr. Lewis Gamble, Jr., who departed this life on Monday, December 9, 2024, will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Gilbert Weston will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery, Ashburn, Georgia. Lewis Gamble Jr. was born on November 12, 1961, in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Lewis Gamble Sr. and Gertrude Cross Gamble He departed this life surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home.
Lewis was educated in the Turner County School System and built a 25-year career as a skilled and reliable forklift operator, earning respect for his hard work and dedication to his family.
Faith was the cornerstone of Lewis’s life. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church early on and remained steadfast in his spiritual journey.
Lewis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed music, traveling, discovering new restaurants, playing cards, and cheering for his favorite sports teams. Above all, he cherished creating lasting memories with his children, grandchildren, and friends.
On June 28, 2019, Lewis married the love of his life, Calandra Gamble. Together, they built a beautiful bond rooted in love, mutual respect, and shared experiences.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Gamble Sr. and Gertrude Cross Gamble.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Surviving him are his devoted wife, Calandra Gamble; his sisters, Doris Carithers (Marvin), Gwen Daniels (Solomon), and Teresa Gamble; his children, Germaine Lawson (Sabrina), Kimberly Gamble, Candice Caswell, Tekela Burgess, James Pitts (Jessica), Shaquita Smith (Martese), Dyshaeveona McCoy, and Caterra Cook; his grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved friends.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Evelyn Edmondson; his fathers-in-law, Samuel Edmondson and Willie Charles Leary; his brothers-in-law, Keith Leary, Charles Johnson, David Edmondson (Kamika), Terry Edmondson (Janice), his sister-in-law, Tomicka Scott (Tony Scott Sr.); his aunt, Vivian Bateman; his special cousin, Gail Hall; and many extended family members.
Though he is no longer with us, Lewis’s love and spirit will remain “Forever in our hearts.”
