On Friday, December 13, 2024, Carson Montgomery Warrick, 79, of 372 Stage Road, Amherst, VA transitioned peacefully from this earthly life to eternal rest at his residence.
Born July 12, 1945, son of the late Carrie Warrick Rucker and William Rucker. In addition to his mother and father he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Warrick and Wayne Rucker; and two aunts, Annie Mae Jordan and Harriet Boykin.
Carson attended Central High School. He was an employee at Sweetbriar College for over 40 years. Additionally, he also served as a bus driver and most recently as a custodian for Amherst County Public Schools for over 10 years.
He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Amherst, VA where he served as a chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee, and a member of the choir. He enjoyed going to Walmart on a daily basis, up to two to three times a day. He also enjoyed meeting with old friends and making new friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife Gail Johnson Warrick; two daughters, DeBraca (Richard) Sales and Derricka (Danny) Jones; one son, Breon (Blalund Taylor) Warrick; eight grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Dakota Sales, Corde Sales, Braelin Sales, Anthony Campbell, Demetri Jones, Kassidy Warrick, Kreedon Warrick, and Kaio Taylor; two sisters, Janice Sparrow and Shirley Sparrow; one brother, Malcolm Rucker; three sisters in law, Barbara Brown, Yvonne Brown, and Virginia Bennett; two brothers in law, Jerome Drummond and Reuben Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends including his Walmart family.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church-Coolwell with interment in the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Amherst, VA.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the funeral service. Family and friends may view his remains Friday, December 20, 2024, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Community Funeral Home, 909 5TH St., Lynchburg, VA. All floral arrangements are to be sent to Community Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA.
