Dr. Quiester Craig was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, to Reverend Samuel and Betty Craig on July 15, 1936. He was the seventh child of seven, and to his family, he was affectionately called Baby Bro.

Dean Craig started his educational career at Alabama State College Laboratory School known as Lab High. He earned a scholarship from the Ford Foundation program that identified college-ready students to bypass 12th grade and attend early enrollment at Morehouse College in 1953. It was at Morehouse that he developed an interest in business and economics. He received his M.B.A from Atlanta University and a Doctorate in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Missouri and North Carolina.

He worked in South Carolina, Missouri, and Florida as a professor before ending his career at North Carolina A&T State University. Dean Craig started his tenure at North Carolina A&T State University in July 1972 and with a dedicated team, the business program received a unanimous vote for undergraduate accreditation by the Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 1979. Afterward, the accounting program became the first program at an HBCU to receive accreditation in 1986.

Dean Craig received a host of honors and awards during his tenure at North Carolina A&T University, to name a few:

Through God's grace and mercy, Dean Craig lived a good, vested life until the Lord, saw fit to release him from his earthly life to present him with wings to Eternity.
