Miss Egypt Michele Berger was born on Sunday, August 15, 2021, to Kevin and Christina Berger of High Point, NC. She gained her wings on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Brenners Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.
Egypt was a member of Infinium Health of Charlotte, NC. Her care team members were Shaunte, Sherry, Angela, Odette, Wilma, Joanne and Miss Michelle. She was also a member of Angels of Care of Winston-Salem, NC, with Ms. Julie and Alexis.
Egypt was a Goal Chaser with Circle Therapy. She had Occupational Therapy with Emily, Taylor and Caroline. She was a Goal Achiever with Children in Motion’s Physical Therapy with Danielle and Amy.
Egypt was known as “Big Juice”, but formerly “Sweet Cheeks”. She was the most verbal, non-verbal little lady. Egypt was sassy, fisty, sweet and very strong and resilient in her young life of being diagnosed with medical complexes. She was born trach and ventilator dependent. Egypt was born with hands, no fingers, feet no toes, one kidney and head full of hair that the nurses in the NICU played with for 4 months.
Egypt was born to be a mermaid and that’s exactly what she was. She fought many medical battles and inspired those who knew her. Egypt was simply a beautiful baby girl that the world needed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, J’dene Markell Kennion; paternal grandparents, Ruth McKenzie Berger and Thurman Berge; paternal aunt, LaRonda Michele Berger, maternal great-grandmother, Mary Lee Edwards.
Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Christina; father, Kevin; and brother, Kairo. She is also remembered by her grandmother, Cindy Jones, of High Point, NC; grandfather, Marcus Edwards, of Kinston, NC; and great-grandmother, Darnell Jones, of Kinston, NC; her paternal aunt, Rosalind Berger-Gunter, of Virginia; maternal aunts, Tamesha Jones, Deonna Jones, Neffertti Muhammad, Lauryn Edwards, and Mary-Bella Edwards, all of North Carolina; and maternal uncle, Mustafa Muhammad, of Virginia. and her godparents, Shea and Kimberly McLaurin, from High Point, NC. She leaves behind a host of cousins and family who loved her dearly.
She will be missed tremendously by all of her family, friends and her care team.
Funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Union Hall Church Cemetery, 6860 Strawberry Road, Chatham, VA. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
