Ms. Emma Lou Oxford "Auntie" ~ Friday, October 11, 1935 - Thursday, December 19, 2024. (89)

Emma Oxford “Auntie”, was born October 11, 1935, to the late Willie Oxford Sr. and Alice Gaines Oxford. Emma was a woman of deep faith, she had boundless love for her family, and she had a gentle spirit. At an early age she joined St. Lewis Missionary Baptist Church. Emma was a graduate of Lakeland High School. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education from Albany State College. Emma was a teacher at Lakeland Elementary and High School, until moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where she taught at Dobbs Elementary School until her retirement. Upon moving to Atlanta, she joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. After retirement Emma moved back home and reunited with St. Lewis, where she enjoyed working with the youth. She was Vice President of the Senior Usher Board and a member of the Women’s Mission Department. At the age of 89, Emma passed from this life to eternal life on December 19, 2024, at her home in Naylor, Georgia. Emma was preceded in death by her older Brother: Willie Jr. Emma leaves to cherish her memories a devoted Sister In-law: Verdie Oxford; Nieces: Deborah (John), Brenda (Billy), Gail, Tonya (Willie) and Keisha (Pat); Seven Great-Nieces, Three Great-nephews, Five Great-Great-Nieces, Nine Great Great-Nephews, the Lamb family, numerous God Children, and the St. Lewis Church family and friends.
A Celebration of Life, Love, and Legacy will take place on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 1300 hours - (1:00 PM) from the St. Lewis Baptist Church - GA-135 Lakeland, GA. Reverend Aden P. Fluker Jr. is pastor and will officiate.
Final Resting Place: Charles Knight Cemtery, Lakeland, GA.
