It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Anderson Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world on December 24, 2024, at the age of 68. Tommy was born on November 26, 1956, to the union of Reedy Lamb-Anderson and Tommy Anderson Sr. in Youngstown, Ohio. Tommy lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.

After graduating from the Rayen School, Tommy dedicated many years of his life to serving in the Army. During his enlistment, he played basketball for the Army West Point’s Black Knights representing the United States Military Academy in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I within the Patriot League.

After Tommy completed his military service with an honorable discharge, he then returned to the community and was employed at Astro Shapes, where he developed a reputation as the go-to guy for every challenge that came his way.

Tommy was a loyal fan of the Raiders and the Chicago Bulls, often filling rooms with jokes and laughter as he recounted his favorite games or engaged friends in spirited debates about his teams’ performances. His stories rarely failed to include tales of his youthful days, including the time he played against NBA player David "The Admiral" Robinson during his military service—an experience he cherished and often shared.

Family was everything to Tommy and he was fiercely loyal. Yet Tommy’s passion for life extended beyond sports and family gatherings; he found serenity in caring for his aquarium and enjoyed grilling delicious meals for those he loved. His canine companion, Valentine, affectionately known as "Val," was never far from his side, sharing in the joy of both the quiet moments and the lively family get-togethers.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Leslie Rist- Anderson and cherished son, Nicholas Anderson. His memory will remain vibrant among his brothers Michael Anderson Sr., Kevin Anderson Sr., and Shane Anderson Sr. He leaves an entourage of family and friends who will fondly recall his genuine love, infectious energy and matter of fact approach to life challenges and opportunities.

As Tommy crossed into eternity, he was welcomed to join the ancestral gathering of his parents, grandparents Napoleon & Mary Harris, and brothers David Anderson, Sr., & Kenneth Anderson who preceded him.

Tommy’s legacy of kindness, humor, and love will forever resonate in our hearts. It is a testament to the beautiful life he lived—a life filled with family, friends, and the things that truly mattered to him. Though he may no longer be with us, Tommy's joyous spirit will live on in our cherished memories.

As the Anderson family honors Tommy's remarkable life, the community is invited to pay homage on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the chapel of the J.E. Washington Funeral Home, 2234 Glenwood Ave, in Youngstown, at 11:00 AM with public viewing. The Celebration of Life Service, which will include military honors, will begin at noon with Rev. Lewis Macklin presiding as the celebrant.
