Mr. Jara A. McDowell, 50 of Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Leonard Whisnant and the late Louise McDowell.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. The reception of family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. and additional times at 821 Greene Street, Shelby. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
