Obituary For Donald Stewart

Mr. Donald Monroe Stewart “Grandpa”, age 97, died peacefully in his home in Dalton, Georgia on Thursday, December 4, 2014. He was dearly loved and cherished by his family and friends. All who knew him affectionately remember his love for life and great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Melitta, and was the last of 17 children. He is survived by his son, Roger Stewart and daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren Lisa Culver and her husband, Chris; Erik Stewart and his wife, Elle; Shana Chandler and her husband, Chris; Amanda Jesperson and her husband, Eric; Audra Frederick and her husband, Gabe. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Ella Frederick, Josie and Kasie Chandler and Ty Culver; nieces and nephews. Donald was born on July 31, 1917 on a farm in Cherokee County, Alabama. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 80 years and regularly shared the Kingdom Good News with his neighbors. As a young man, he served in the full-time ministry in various parts of the country including the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York. Donald also lovingly served as an elder in the local Mountain View congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Professionally, Donald worked in the carpet industry, most notably World Carpets for 13 years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1309 Applewood Drive, Dalton, Georgia.
