Funeral service for Walter Pruitt, 80, of Opelika, AL, will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, 4454 Lee Road 166, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend S. Dewayne Drakeford will officiate.

Mr. Pruitt, who passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born May 13, 1944, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Pruitt will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: wife, Mary Pruitt of Opelika, AL: six children, Melvin Richmond, Phyllis (Michael) Pitts, Cheryl ( Rodney) Dorsey, Gary Richmond, Tonya (Michael) Heard and Lessie Hinz all of Opelika, AL; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie (Regina) Pruitt of Opelika, AL and Willie (Sylvia) Nunn of Seattle, WA; three sisters, Annie Adkins, Shirley Frazier and Alice Edwards all of Opelika, AL; one uncle, John (Carolyn) Pruitt of Opelika, AL; one brother-in-law, J.W. (Faye) Ingram of Crawford, AL; a bonus daughter, Tameka Lockhart; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church Family.
