Obituary For Curtis Knowles

MR. CURTIS KNOWLES- Age 69, Of Menlo, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 with his family at his bedside. He was the son of the late Pete Knowles and Elizabeth Knowles Hamlin. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills (Regel Mills) after forty-two years, was a faithful member of Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by one sister, Laura K. Black, three brothers, Henry Knowles, Nathaniel Knowles, and James Knowles, and stepfather, Carroll “Red” Hamlin. Those left to rejoice in his memory are his soul-mate of fifty years, Ruth Starr of Summerville, Georgia; two sisters, Theresa K. Harris of Menlo and Myrtis K. Evans; one brother, Marcellous Knowles; daughters, Debra Shepherd, Catherine Green of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Hilda Copeland of Summerville; son, Edwin Starr of Marietta, Georgia; great aunt, Jerrell Dean Hudgins of Chickamauga, Georgia; two special nephews, Nathaniel Knowles of Menlo and Kelly Harris of Lyerly, Georgia; special niece, Tracey Esmann of Menlo; sisters-in-law, Laura Dean Knowles of Summerville; special friends, Debbie Turner and William Hyden; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The Service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Curtis Knowles will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Barrett and other ministers officiating. His remains will lie in state at the church from Noon until the funeral hour. Interment, Summerville Cemetery.
