Maria Echavarria, 79, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Maria was born on November 20, 1945, in Tierra Blanca, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Trinidad and Aurelia Loya. She was a hard worker and a great cook, owning her own restaurant for many years. Maria also enjoyed gardening and trips to the casino. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends and cared for a small army of rescue cats. The thing she cherished most was spending time with her grandchildren.
Maria is survived by her sons: Moises Echavarria (Breezy Montoya), Alejandro Echavarria and wife Katrina, Miguel Echavarria and wife Jennifer, and Anthony Archuleta and wife Arlene; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Guadalupe A. Loya, Daniel Loya, Angela Tafoya (Dave), Trinidad Loya II (Sandra), Aurelia Zepeda (Fernando), and Dolores Castible (Tony). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Echavarria; her parents; and siblings: Elva Guerra, Sergio Loya, and Francisca Carbajal.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 A.M. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. Maria will be laid to rest at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be: Moises Echavarria, Alejandro Echavarria, Miguel Echavarria, Anthony Archuleta, Moises Echavarria Jr., and Trinidad Loya.
