Obituary For Mary Blanche Smith

MRS. MARY BLANCHE BLACKWELL SMITH – AGE 73, - Of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at her residence. She was born on January 10, 1942, retired from Hamilton Medical Center, member of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Dennis Blackwell, Sr. and Deborah Burse Blackwell, brother, John Thomas Blackwell, and sister, Loretta Blackwell Darling. Survivors are her husband, Walter L. Smith, Jr. of Dalton, Georgia; four sons, Anthony L. Blackwell of Union City, Georgia, Walter L. Smith, III of Park Forest, Illinois, Keenan L. Smith, and Omar M. Baker; three sisters, Jeanette (Henry) Parks, Valeria (Malcolm) Fain of Dalton, and Kimberly Blackwell Browning of Alpharetta, Georgia; one brother, Samuel Dennis (Patricia) Blackwell of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren; two special aunts, Mrs. Viloet Jackson, Mrs. Catherine Blackwell, other aunts and uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend, Freddie Stargell; other relatives, and friends. Homegoing Celebration will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 1:00 p. m. at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church, 1401 Martin L. King, Jr., Blvd., Dalton, GA. with Dr. Jerry D. Jones, Sr. and Pastor Kenneth Scaife officiating. Her remains will lie state at the funeral home on Wednesday after 11:00 a. m. Interment, West Hill Cemetery.
