Pearlene Abnar Stephens

Passed 01/16/2025

Pearlene Abnar Stephens passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 26, 1937, Pearlene was the third child born to the late Roys and Clara Mae Abnar in Moultrie, Georgia.

Pearlene received her education through the Sarasota Public School system; later matriculating through nursing and cosmetology school.

Pearlene spent over 45 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse working at several medical facilities during this time and was also a talented Cosmetologist. Whether she was caring for patients, making someone feel beautiful, or simply offering a listening ear, Pearlene touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity.

More than just a caregiver, Pearlene was a pillar in her neighborhood. Her home was always filled with laughter and love, a welcoming place where children naturally gathered and drawn to the nurturing and friendly atmosphere she created. During the recent years of her life, Pearlene relocated for a short period of time to live in Catonsville, MD with her youngest daughter. While in Maryland she regularly attended the Remnant of God Deliverance Ministry church under the leadership of Dr. Karen L. Thompson. Another testament of her nurturing spirit was demonstrated in how Pearlene took it upon herself to care for Remnant’s church mother even though she herself was the younger one. Pearlene had a way of making everyone feel like family, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father (Roys Abnar); mother (Clara Mae Abnar); two brothers (Johnnie Willie Abnar and Willie David Abnar); two sons (Johnnie and Ronnie Stephens); and son in-law Marvin Davis. Pearlene leaves to remember the joys of life, her two daughters Marlene Davis and Phyllis Aubrey; two step daughters Phyllis JoAnn Thompson (Michael) and Gayla Calloway; four adopted children John Stephens, Deborah Simcock, Valisha Stephens and Cassandra Stephens; one daughter in-law (Susan Stephens); twelve grandchildren Clemesha Stephens, Catina Evans (Kerry), Erica Timmons, Dwan Stephens, Dominique Davis, Ronnika Stephens, Kelli Stephens, Jason Stephens (Sally), Marcus Turks, Deaaron Davis, Keyon Priester-Stephens (Audjennae) and DaZaria Phillips; twenty one great grandchildren; Caniya Stephens, Shaquaya Timmons, Jumar Timmons, Jabari Chisholm, Jailan Pellot, Suraya Pellot, Mikai King, Shyanne King, Mason Harris-Turks, Khalni, Kayson and Ka’Mir Priester-Stephens, Eustace Webster, Jr., Alexus, Gabriel, Johnny II, Terrance, and Evan Stephens, Chaim, Arianna and Nelson, Jr. Simcock; one great great grandson Kayden Stephens and a host of other relatives and friends.
