Obituary For Mother Mildred Christine Smith

MRS. MILDRED “NANNY”, “MS. CHRIS”, “MOTHER SMITH” CHRISTINE SMITH – Age 91, Of Chattanooga, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2016 at a local hospital. She was born on July 14, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Rev. C. C. and Louvennie Fuller. She was employed by the Chattanooga City Schools and the Department of Human Services as a daycare worker. While refining her life as a Christian, she was a dedicated worker in the church. She served as the Church Mother at Jackson Temple COGIC, McDowell Memorial COGIC, and later at Greater Community COGIC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Smith, daughter, Elaine Johnson, parents, grandsons, Dennis, Jeremiah, Cory, granddaughter, Jacinta, sister, Geneva Smith, and brother, Percy Hall. She is survived by her children, Monroe (Patricia) Jones, Barbara Collins, Gloria Buckner, Brenda (Willie) Ballard, Sheridon Smith, Kenneth (Cheryl) Smith, Freddie (Mary) Smith, Jennifer Smith, Terrell (Johnny) Reese, Carla (Leroy) Mason, and godson, Derrick Phillips; one hundred and two grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bessie Grady, Bertha Gladden; brother-in-law, Haywood (Ossie) Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend, Sis. Alma Joyce Ayers; other relatives, and friends. Homegoing Service will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:00 A. M. at the Greater Community Church COGIC, 1817 East 3rd Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee, with Elder Anthony Taylor, officiating. The family will receive friends (Tuesday) today at the church from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
