Ms. LaPorsha A. Shumate, 31, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2025 in Leesburg, Georgia.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the the New Birth Fellowship Church, 2106 Radium Springs Road, Albany, Georgia 31705.
Interment will follow in the Roselawn Garden of Memory Cemetery, 2122 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Albany, Georgia 31701.
LaPorsha Alexis Shumate was born in Albany, Georgia on January 7, 1994 to the parentage of Veronica J. Naylor and Abraham Shumate. She was called home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2025.
LaPorsha graduated from Albany High in 2012. She continued her studies in Early Childhood and graduating with an Associate Degree from Albany Technical College and later returning to ATC to complete a certification in Pharmacy Tech. She served as a Doctor’s Scribe upon her departure from the earth.
LaPorsha was blessed with a large and loving family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ms. Essie Johnson, Mr. Charlie Foster, Tommie Naylor, Sr. and Floriene Naylor; aunt, Shirley J. Cook; Godparent, Dorothy Sculark; and close cousins, Marcus Dent and Courtney Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her many memories to her loving and devoted mother, Veronica (Walter) Naylor; and father, Abraham (Angela) Shumate all of Albany, Georgia; grandparents: Willard and Martha Fulmore of Albany, Georgia; siblings, Austin Shumate, Ariel Shumate, and Kameron Naylor of Albany, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Annie Pearl Johnson, Charlie Johnson, James H. Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Gerald (Deborah) Johnson, Michael (Shirlene) Johnson, Charlie (Jessica) Foster all of Americus, Georgia, Shannon Johnson of Oberlin, Ohio, Sonya Stover of Warner Robins, Georgia., Tonya (Darrin) Gregory of Minneapolis, Minnesota, reared as aunts and uncles, LaKenya “Kale” Johnson and Rodney (Sharon) Johnson of Americus, Georgia, Shirley W.
