Virginia Viola Armijo, 81, went peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 23, 1943, in Hot Springs, NM, to Epifaño Torres and Simona Chavez, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Bences Apodaca. She was the eldest of seven children.

A devoted Catholic, Viola’s faith was a central and guiding part of her life. After retiring from the State of New Mexico Public Health Department, she continued to serve her community by working for over 20 years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was also a chartered member of the American Legion Riders, an active Boy Scout mom, and a member for the Board of Ben Archer Health Center for 4 years.

Viola was known for her warm and welcoming nature, contrasted with her quick wit, and sharp tongue. She was an avid reader, enjoyed trips to the casino, and had a unique ability to make her family laugh. Above all, she cherished having a full house and surrounded herself with loved ones. The most important thing was spending time with her family, particularly her husband, sons, and grandsons.

She was deeply loved and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Viola's legacy of love, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Walter Armijo; sons- Ron (Jeff), Eric (Jenny), Mark (Brittany); grandsons- Chris (Rachel), Justin (Misty), Hunter and Blaine; siblings; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents- Simona Apodaca, Bences Apodaca and Epifaño Torres.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church starting with a Rosary at 10:00 A.M., followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 A.M., officiated by Rev. Michael Williams.
